Big things are coming for 2012!
After taking a year off racing in 2011 I am coming back with bigger and bolder plans for 2012. The 2004 ZX-10R that served me well is gone but in its place I will be riding on a freshly built 2010 ZX-10R. With help from Kawasaki Canada, Inglis Cycle, Bluestreak Racing and Compulsion Racing I have been able to focus on getting the right parts to put together a very competitive Amateur Superbike. The build includes parts from Attack Performance, Ohlins, Vortex, Woodcraft, DynoJet and Yoshimura. I’ve chosen parts that will give me the most “bang for the buck”. My plans for 2012 include riding in the Novice Superbike and Novice Open Sprint classes with SOAR as well as Amateur Superbike with RACE and the CSBK National series. In addition to that there has been some discussion with a few potential team mates to run a few endurance races with SOAR (at the new Grand Bend track) and with TFR (at Calabogie Motorsports Park).
In addition to building a new bike I spent a lot of time in 2011 focusing on physical training. I have dropped almost 60lbs in the past year and I am now in the best shape of my life. With some motivation from my dad I decided to try my very first dualthlon in May of 2011. I spent a lot of time on my mountain bike, road bike and in spin classes. Cycling is a sport that lends itself quite well to motorcycle racing, the increased leg strength and endurance is definitely something that will improve how well I’m able to ride a motorcycle. I am also confident that without the extra weight I will be in a much better position to utilize the horsepower advantage I have.
The 2012 race season is coming soon! I am looking forward to picking up where I left off and chasing a few championships this year. Many thanks go out to all the people who support me. They help me focus on everything off the track so I can focus more on everything on the track.
